(oh my god, turn the bass up!!)
I adjusted my equalizer settings this morning, and Depeche Mode was busting my ears. WHOA.

Gabby’s

Interesting Gabby’s experience last night. No Ben. No KerryElizabeth once again made it grand. The Robbinsdale Creamery has been held up by Jordan’s beard. Radish beer will be all the rage in 2004, you heard here first, and Jesus looks like a woman if you shave him; wait, forget I said that.
I got me a Depeche Mode CD. Woo-hoo!

Depeche Mode

Tuesday, December 30th, 2003

I made an ass of myself by predicting I wouldn't enjoy this disc very much.
Really, what kind of an idiot makes such a statement to the person who's just given him a gift?
Me, that's what kind.

Anyway, given the prediction, it has surprised me a bit. Bilz was pretty smart about putting this together. It starts with two songs with which I was already familiar, Policy Of Truth and Personal Jesus, which serve as good primers, since I enjoy both songs already. There's only one other song on the 17 (?) track disc that sounded familiar, but the name escapes me at the moment.
Historically, my musical tastes don't often intersect with Depeche Mode's moody, reverb-instensive, British-sounding brand of synth pop. The closest thing I can't think of that's been in my music collection would be Type O Negative (kind of a stretch). However, I have to admit, I did enjoy most everything I heard on the first listen of the disc. Part of that is probably based on it being a gift from a good friend, and wanting to enjoy it for that reason, but I'll certainly be listening to it a few more times.
