Awesome Day

I hearby declare today to be Awesome Day.
I woke up this morning about a quarter to 8 and brewed some coffee.
Then I brewed some beer.

Yes, that’s right. BEER.
It was my first time brewing beer, although I had observed while Chad taught Ben how to do it a few months ago. Brewing by myself wasn’t nearly as fun as hanging out with the guys while brewing, but it was still awesome. Of course, I’m not even half done with the entire process of making beer. I’ve really only made the wort and started fermenting it. I’m using a two-stage fermentation, so a week from now, I’ll need to transfer my concoction to a glass carboy (it’s currently in a plastic bucket being eaten by yeast), and then a week after that I’ll get to bottle it. Woo for beer!
If that wasn’t awesome enough, I also recorded my entry for the Jabberboard Cover Song Project, Round 3. The previous two rounds, I haven’t had much time to record anything, so my entries were very basic. This time, I had an entire afternoon to work on it, so I went with a full band cover of Godzilla, by The Blue Oyster Cult. The rules for this round were that the song had to be based off a book or movie. I had a heckuva time finding a song. My first thought was Among The Living, by Anthrax, but that would’ve been a little complicated, and I kind of wanted to get away from doing another Kathetor-ized cover. Then I thought maybe I could do Sympathy For The Devil (Rolling Stones), but any version I would have done would have most likely just been boring. So I ended up googling for a while to find songs that were based on books or movies, and when I saw Godzilla, it was like striking gold. It was too perfect. Then, when I did a search for it in my iTunes, I ran across the Godzilla Geneology Bop from MST3K and decided to use part of it as a sample for my cover. Hehe. I’ll post the results for the podcast shortly.
And it’s only 10 to 3 in the afternoon!
Still time to play WoW!
And tonight, Meghan & I are heading up to Duluth for the 4th and final Christmas of the year. Hooray! More loot!
