Hi there.

Hey, how’s it going?  I’m doing well.  Just sittin’ here drinking some beer and listening to Arch Enemy.  Troubleshooting some backup issues for some of our clients and responding to e-mails.  Hey, you know what?  It’s 11:42pm.  Why the hell am I working?  That’s kind of dumb.  I should be… umm… drinking beer and playing on the computer or something.

Oh.  I guess that is what I’m doing.

Hey, did you know that it’s National Novel Writing Month?  Apparently you have been challenged by the Internet to try and write a novel in a month.  Several of my friends are attempting to do it. From what I hear, there’s varying amounts of success.  Personally, I think I’m going to skip it.  I have a hard enough time trying to muster up enough motivation to tell you what I did over the weekend.  I don’t need the added pressure of trying to make up a whole novel’s worth of stuff.

I did, however, recently record an entire album’s worth of cover songs.  And when I say “an entire album’s worth”, what I really mean is that I recorded covers of every song on one specific album.  Black Sabbath’s ‘Master Of Reality’, to be specific.  I’m not sure why I did it.  I had the idea to try and record covers of every song on ‘Paranoid’ like two years ago, but haven’t gotten around to that yet.  But one day I decided to do Master Of Reality and then I actually did it.  I think I was spurred on a bit by the fact that I’m currently in possesstion of Corey’s acoustic bass and knew he’d be wanting it back soon.  (Because I recorded the whole thing acoustic).  It was a fun project and I finished it a lot quicker than I thought I would.  It only took me about 3 weeks.  I have to admit, though, that I slacked on work for a while there to get it done.  Luckily, there wasn’t much I was missing.   I suppose I’m making up for it now by fixing backup problems at midnight.  Hah!  Anyway, I’ll get links up to the songs here sometime in the near future.  I’m sure you’re anxious to hear it.  Who am I kidding, you already have!  Hah!

I suppose you’re wondering what I’m doing listening to Arch Enemy.  My friend T-Rav invited me to go seem them in January, along with Exodus, who I believe I’ve told you about before.  I figured I should familiarize myself with their music.  I had downloaded a couple albums sometime before and for some reason wasn’t that impressed.  This seems weird to me now, since I’m really enjoying what I’m hearing.  Tonight I’ve listened to ‘Wages Of Sin’ and a little over halfway through ‘Anthems Of Rebellion’.  Three more albums to go and I’ll be current!  Hah!

Oh, by the way, my friends Naomi & Troy got married a couple weekends ago.  I got delegated to be the videographer, which I haven’t done before.  I tried to be smooth and professional and use zooms and stuff, but I have to admit some of it is probably pretty shaky.  I also put together a video slideshow for them, which they showed during the dinner.  It turned out pretty well, I think.  People seemed to enjoy it.

Oh hey, guess what!  Meghan & I started watching Gilmore Girls again.  Heh.  After watching every Law & Order spinoff known to man, we needed something to entertain us before going to bed, so we decided to take a second run through our favorite girl dramedy.  We just started season 3, and it’s fantastic.  I find myself being struck constantly at the superb writing in the show.  I wish I could have conversations like those girls have.  Although, I wouldn’t want to deal with the boyfriend drama.  That Luke, though.  *sigh*

What else can I tell you?  Hmm….

Oh, so the Wilc0x’s moved away.  They finally managed to sell their house, just in time for Ben to be sworn in as an official lawyer.  They apparently were able to procure a decent residence in that podunk town they moved to.  I haven’t seen it, but I hear it’s huge (the house, not the town).  I was sad to see them go, but I think it was good decision for them.  Hopefully, we can go visit soon.

Halloween was this past weekend.  The wife & I celebrated by giving candy to the few costumed rapscallions that rang our doorbell and then went to party.  I dressed as Adam Savage from Mythbusters, which, since I happened to look a bit like him anyway, meant that I put on a black t-shirt and wrote (in masking tape) “MYTH BUSTED” on it.  Meghan dressed as a Party Pooper.  If you think real hard, I bet you can figure out what that entailed. The party was T-Rav’s house, and they put on a fairly elaborate affair.  The whole house was decorated in the pertinent theme, and every attendee was dressed as something suitably clever.  We didn’t know anybody at the party other then the hosts, but we still had a good time hanging out and chatting it up.  I especially enjoyed sucking on alcohol-infused eyeballs.

So have you noticed a change in my writing style at all?  I’m trying something out.  Sometimes I feel like I’m trying to be too formal when I’m blogging, and it tends stunt my efforts, so I figured I might try something a little more casual.  I hope it doesn’t seem to forward.  I don’t want to be invading your space or anything.

Did you know that Leinie’s Amber Lager uses almost the exact same recipe that Leinie’s Northwoods did?  I learned that on Facebook.  It still doesn’t seem the same to me.  Something about the rarity of Northwoods makes it better, I think.  Although, right now, I think Oktoberfest tastes better than both.

My homebrewed Oktoberfest is still lagering in the basement, by the way.  I’m trying to figure out if I really want to bottle all that brew again.  I think it’s getting to be time I invested in a kegging system.  Especially since I’d probably have to introduce fresh yeast into a lager before bottling.  I don’t want to end up with 48 more bottles of beer juice.  I still haven’t figured out what to do with my year-long Belgian Trippel failure.

Anyway, I hope you’re doing well.  I think I’m going to step away from the computer now that everything’s backing up as it should be.  Perhaps I’ll watch an episode of Farscape before bed.

I also have the odd tendency to do work stuff at home, mainly because it doesn’t seem like work when I’m at home. Also, it was awesome having you and Meghan visit. We still have a couple of eyeballs in the fridge if you want ‘em.
